Parent Teacher Discussions

Hi parents/caregivers,

Just wanting to remind you all that on Monday the 14th and Wednesday 16th of April are our last school interviews for term 1. They run from 3-4.45pm on both days and each interview has a 15 minute slot. These interviews are a chance to sit down with us without your child and discuss their progress this term, how they find school, what they enjoy, how they are settling in and if there are any matters of questions you have for us that you would like us to answer.

There are only 12 more spots left so if you would like to book a time to discuss your child and their time with us so far with Dana and I please do so! We encourage you to come to these interviews as they are very beneficial for you, your child, and for us as teachers too.

To book an interview copy the following address thats below into your browser and enter the code given to access Arahoe interviews.

All the students are learning how to finger point under each word, make their voice sound nice and smooth and recognise letters/ words that we have been learning in class. For the more able readers their focus is to red with expression when they see punctuation and to describe what has happened in the story.

Writing:
This week all the students are having an intensive on name writing, a lot of students in room 19 are still struggling to correctly write their name. If you could practise this at home too it would be greatly appreciated. For students who are able to write their name they will continue making letters from casey shapes.

This week's focus is being able to read, write and count forward and back from 20.

True colours performance

Today all the children took home an invitation to invite you to our true colours dance performance at 10.30 on the 16th of April. Hope to see you there.

Writing chalk board set up

Here are two super star handwritters showing us how we set up our chalk board. You have a tree trunk, branch, broken branch , date and the egg. If you are writing at home on chalk boards, plain paper and white boards please ask your child to set their board up like this.

Writing

Look at the clever writers we have in our class. Their letters sit on the line , the words have spaces between them and the letters sit under the broken branch and they even end their story with a full stop. Do you know that these clever children wrote all the words in their story by themselves... and stretched out the trickier words. Wow

Keeping ourselves safe

Today we had constable Carl come into our class for the program keeping ourselves safe. We learnt the names of our body parts and how to keep ourselves safe.

Week 9

Hello parents,

Welcome to week 9. Can you believe the term is almost coming to an end. Katherine and I will now be sending out weekly update emails that will also be updated onto the blog to help all of you know what our teaching focus will be.

Letter of the week: Hh

Word of the week: in

Reading: the children are learning how to finger point under each word and recognise high frequency words – look, I, a , is, the, me, my, we. We will be practising reading, writing and spelling these in class this week. It would be very helpful if you practised this at home too. The children are also looking out for letters that they know in the text eg – a,n,m.

For the more confident readers their focus is to stretch out the letters in unknown words and put them back together to identify the word, look out for punctuation and make their voice sound nice and smooth while they are talking.

Writing: all the children are using chalk boards and learning the cassy shapes. I have attached the cassey shapes again for your home use. Please take photos of the children would love to see how they are going at home. We are also practising how to correctly write our name. Keep up the name practise at home!

Maths: this week the children are learning how to count forward and backwards to 20 and read and recognise numbers to 20.

Assemblage Art

Have a look at our assemblage art. We each had to bring to school a box filled with treasures that represented us. We then put it all together to make a rather impressive piece of art. The children absolutely loved this project and have taken a lot of pride showing their friends what they love.
